At 2,579 metres above sea level on top of Cubilete Hill, sits this beautiful and historically significant sanctuary. It is one of the most historically important religious shrines in Mexico, marking the geographical center of Mexico.

Cerro del Cubilete

The Cerro del Cubilete (translated as "Dice Cup Hill") is a 2,700 metres tall mountain-hill in Silao Municipality in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. At the top of the hill is the Cristo Rey statue.

Silao, Guanajuato

Silao is a municipality in the west-central part of the state of Guanajuato in Mexico. Its seat is the city of the same name. This municipality lies adjacent to the west side of the municipality of Guanajuato, the state capital. This municipality has an area of 531.41 km² (205.18 sq mi) and a population of 147,123, and includes numerous small outlying communities, the largest of which are Colonias Nuevo México and La Aldea.

Mummies of Guanajuato

The Mummies of Guanajuato are a number of naturally mummified bodies interred during a cholera outbreak around Guanajuato, Mexico in 1833. These mummies were discovered in a cemetery located in Guanajuato, which has made the city one of the biggest tourist attractions in Mexico. All of these mummies were disinterred between 1865 and 1958, when the law required relatives to pay a tax in order to keep the bodies in the cemetery.
