Dolores Hidalgo (in full, Dolores Hidalgo Cuna de la Independencia Nacional is the name of a city and the surrounding municipality in the north-central part of the Mexican state of Guanajuato. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:21.17|N|100.93|W||||| | |name= }}, at an elevation of about 1,980 meters above sea level. In the census of 2005 the city had a population of 54,843 people, while the municipality had 134,641 inhabitants.

Sanctuary of Atotonilco
The Sanctuary of Atotonilco (Santuario de Atotonilco) is a church complex and a World Heritage Site, designated along with nearby San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. The complex was built in the 18th century by Father Luis Felipe Neri de Alfaro who, according to tradition, was called upon by a vision of Jesus with a crown of thorns on his head and carrying a cross. The main feature of the complex is the rich Mexican Baroque mural work that adorns the main nave and chapels.
