Salamanca, Guanajuato

Salamanca is a city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. Founded January 1, 1603 as 'Villa de Salamanca' by the Viceroy Gaspar de Zuniga and Acevedo, fifth Earl of Monterrey, who was originally from Salamanca. The town was founded in the lands of Bajio, after cattle ranchers and poor farmers, a few Spaniards, and small groups of Otomi Indians who formerly occupied a village named Xidoo, already lived in the area.

Estadio Sección XXIV

Estadio Sección XXIV is a multi-use stadium in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium for Petroleros de Salamanca. The stadium has a capacity 15,000 people and opened in 1951.

Bajío

The Bajío (lowlands) is a region of Central Mexico that includes the plains south of the Sierra de Guanajuato, in the state of Guanajuato, as well as parts of the states of Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Jalisco and Michoacán (particularly the area around Zamora).
