Ario, Michoacán

Ario is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. The municipality has an area of 694.60 square kilometres (1.18% of the surface of the state) and is bordered to the north by Salvador Escalante, to the east by Tacámbaro and Turicato, to the south by La Huacana, to the west by Nuevo Urecho, and to the northwest by Taretán. The municipality had a population of 31, 647 inhabitants according to the 2005 census. Its municipal seat is the city of Ario de Rosales.

Santa Clara del Cobre

Santa Clara del Cobre is a town and municipality located in the center of the state of Michoacán, Mexico, 18 km from Pátzcuaro and 79 km from the state capital of Morelia. While the official name of the municipality is Salvador Escalante, and the town is often marked as "Villa Escalante" or "Salvador Escalante" on maps, both entities are interchangeably called Santa Clara del Cobre. The town is part of the Pátzcuaro region of Michoacán, and ethnically dominated by the P'urhépecha people.

Punzo family (copper crafts)

The Punzo family contains two of the best known copper and silver smiths located in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, Mexico. The family descends from copper smith Carlos Punzo Córdoba. The two main smiths today are brothers Abdón Punzo Ángel and Ignacio Punzo Ángel, each of whom has his own workshop in which their sons and grandsons work and learn the craft of working copper and silver.

Lake Zirahuén

Lake Zirahuén is a small endorheic lake in the Municipality of Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán state of west-central Mexico. Lake Zirahuén is a small, deep mountain lake, with a sandy bottom that is partially covered with mud. At times Lake Zirahuén has been part of an open and continuous hydrological system formed by Lake Cuitzeo, Lake Pátzcuaro and Lake Zirahuén, which drained into the Lerma River.
