1980 Central Mexico earthquake

The 1980 Oaxaca earthquake occurred on October 24, 1980. It killed 300 and measured 7.0 on the surface wave measurement scale. Leaving many injured, the quake left approximately 150,000 homeless and caused extensive damage, mainly in the Huajuapan de León region of the state of Oaxaca. It was felt throughout southern Mexico as well and in Guatemala.

Acatlán de Osorio, Puebla

Acatlán de Osorio is a city in the Mexican state of Puebla. The shortened name Acatlán, is commonly used to refer to the municipality of which it is the seat, and to the city itself. It is located at coordinates {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18|12|31|N|98|03|27|W|type:city | |name= }} at an elevation of 1,213 m (3,981 ft). In the 2000 census the population of the city was 34,765.
