Pajarito Mountains

The Pajarito Mountains are a small mountain range of western Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The range is adjacent the Atascosa Mountains at its north, with both ranges in the center of a north-south sequence of ranges called the Tumacacori Highlands. The Highlands have the Tumacacori Mountains at the north, and south of the U.S. -Mexico border, the Sierra La Esmeralda range, (the Emerald Mountains).

Atascosa Mountains

The Atascosa Mountains are a small mountain range of western Santa Cruz County, Arizona. It is sandwiched between the larger Tumacacori Mountains to the north, and a small east-west border range to the south, the Pajarito Mountains; the Pajaritos are on the U.S. -Mexico border and abut the Sierra La Esmeralda range in northern Sonora. The Pajarito and Atascosa Mountains are the central ranges in the Tumacacori Highlands.

Nogales-Morley Gate Port of Entry

The Nogales Port of Entry evolved over time, rather than being planned. When an international fence divided Nogales in the early 20th century, vehicles were inspected at a gate at Grand Avenue, trains were inspected just east of there, and pedestians were inspected further to the east at Morley Avenue. A small tile-roofed inspection station was built in the 1920s and remained until substantial renovations were performed in 2010.

Nogales-Mariposa Port of Entry

The Nogales-Mariposa Arizona Port of Entry was built in 1973 to divert truck traffic away from the busy downtown Grand Avenue border crossing. All commercial traffic entering the United States at Nogales now enters through the Mariposa port of entry. The port facilities are currently undergoing substantial renovation to accommodate increasing traffic and to support new equipment and procedures.
