Padilla, Tamaulipas
Do not confuse with Nuevo Padilla, Tamaulipas, the current seat of the municipality. Padilla is a municipality and former town located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. After the inundation the Vicente Guerrero dam in 1970, the seat was moved to the town of Nuevo Padilla, Tamaulipas. Padilla served as the capital of the state of Tamaulipas from 1824 to 1825, and was home to the first Constituent Congress in the state; it is often regarded as the "birthplace of federalism in Tamaulipas.
