Cosamaloapan, Veracruz

Cosamaloapan is a municipality located in the plains of the Sotavento zone in the central zone of the State of Veracruz, about 240 km from state capital Xalapa. It has a surface of 323.26 km2. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:18|22|N|95|48|W||| | |name= }}. The poet Manuel Carpio was born in Cosamaloapan. Cosamaloapan serves as the municipal seat of the municipality of Cosamaloapan de Carpio, which was so renamed in honour of its most famous son in 1918.

Saltabarranca is a municipality located in the south zone of the State of Veracruz, Mexico, about 180 kilometres from state capital Xalapa. It has an area of 91.3 km . There is not known the origin of the name of this existing municipality from the creation of the State of Veracruz (1824).

1937 Orizaba earthquake

The 1937 Orizaba earthquake occurred on July 26, 1937 at 03:47 UTC, near Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico. It had a magnitude of Ms 7.3. 34 people were reported dead. Damage was reported in Esperanza, Puebla. This earthquake was an intraplate earthquake within the subducting Cocos Plate.

Acula (municipality)

Acula is a municipality in Veracruz, Mexico. It is located about 230 km from state capital Xalapa to the south-east. The municipality of Acula is delimited to the east by the Tlacotalpan, to the south by the Amatitlán, to the west by the Ignacio de la Llave, and to the north by Alvarado. It produces maize, rice, bean, mango and sugar cane.
