The IMAP (teacher's training college), Escola Secundária de Ulongué (secondary school), numerous primary schools, churches, Mozambique Trading Company, Mozambique Leaf Tobacco, and GPZ all have a presence in the area.

Ntcheu is a district in the Central Region of Malawi. It borders with the country of Mozambique. The district headquarters known as BOMA in local language is located in Village Headman Yeneya and the place is commonly called Mphate. The district covers an area of 3,424 km. ² and has a population of 474,464 according to 2008 Malawi population Census. Out of that 226,567 are males and 247,897 are females. It lies half way between Malawi's majors cities of Blantyre and Lilongwe the capital city.
