Moe Yin Gyi Reservoir is a reservoir in the Bago Division in southern-central Burma. The reservoir was built in 1978 and 11 years later the area became part of the Moe Yin Gyi Reserve. The small town of Pyinbongyi lies on the western side of the lake.

1930 Pyu earthquake
The 1930 Pyu earthquake occurred on December 3, 1930 at 18:51 UTC . The epicenter was located north to Bago, Burma, then part of British India. The magnitude of the earthquake was put at Mw 7.3, or Ms 7.3. Before the earthquake, a tremor occurred at 16:36 UTC, and its shaking was felt much milder in Yangon. 36 deaths were reported in the earthquake. The earthquake caused severe damage to Pyu, about 130 km north of Bago. Many of the masonry buildings in Pyu were wrecked.
