Mawlamyine

Mawlamyine is the third largest city of Burma (Myanmar), situated 300 km south east of Yangon and 70 km south of Thaton, at the mouth of Thanlwin (Salween) river. The city of 500,000 is the capital and largest city of Mon State, Myanmar, and is the main trading center and seaport in south-eastern Burma.

Mawlamyine Railway Station

Mawlamyine Railway Station is a railway station located in Mawlamyine, Mon State, Myanmar on Myanmar Railways' Bago-Mawlamyine-Dawei line. The two-story station is 290 feet long and 110 feet wide, and has a total floor area of 638,000 square feet.

Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine)

Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyaing) is the longest bridge in Burma, and connects the city of Mawlamyaing with Mottama. Constructed at the confluence of the Thanlwin River, the Gyaing River and the Attayan River in Mon State, the bridge has a two-mile (3 km)-long motor road and four-mile (6 km)-long railroad as well as pedestrian lanes. The approach structure of the rail bridge on Mawlamyaing bank is 1.22 miles long, and on Mottama bank is 1.42 miles long.

Mottama

Mottama is a small town in the Thaton district of Mon State, Myanmar. Located on the north bank of the Thanlwin river, on the opposite side of Mawlamyaing, Mottama was the first capital of the Hanthawaddy Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries, and an entrepôt of international repute until the mid-16th century. Mottama was the terminus of the road and the railroad from Yangon, where the Thanlwin empties into the Gulf of Martaban in the Andaman Sea.

Mawlamyine University

Mawlamyaing University, located in Mawlamyaing, is the largest university in Mon State, Myanmar. The university offers bachelor's and master's degree programs in liberal arts and sciences. It is one of the few universities in the country to offer a specialization in marine science in the country.
