Ko Chang, Chiang Rai

Ko Chang, Mae Sai is a village and tambon (subdistrict) of Mae Sai District, in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. In 2005 it had a total population of 9964 people. The tambon contains 13 villages.

2011 Burma earthquake

The 2011 Burma earthquake was a magnitude 6.9 earthquake on 24 March 2011 that had its epicenter in the east of Shan State in Burma (Myanmar) with a hypocenter 10 km deep. It had two aftershocks, one of magnitude 4.8, another at magnitude 5.4 and two subsequent shock at magnitude 5.0 and 6.2. The quake's epicentre was 70 miles from the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai, north of Mae Sai and southeast of Kentung.
