Twante Canal

The Twante Canal is a canal that connects the Irrawaddy River and the Yangon river in Myanmar. The 35 km canal is a heavily used short cut between the city of Yangon and the Irrawaddy Division. The canal is named after the town of Twante, located near the canal's mid-way point. The canal was the quickest route from Yangon to the Irrawaddy Delta until the 1990s when roads between Yangon and the Irrawaddy Division became usable year round. The canal is still heavily used.

Yangon Institute of Marine Technology

The Yangon Institute of Marine Technology (IMT),, located in Yangon, Myanmar, is a public institute offering mainly two-year diplomas in mercantile nautical technologies. The institute also offers four-year bachelor's degrees and post-graduate diplomas in select fields. The institute aims to "train seafarers to become internationally recognized marine personnel, so that they can be employed onboard vessels owned by national and foreign shipping companies".

National Highway 1 (Burma)

National Highway 1 (NR1), literally "The Road to Mandalay ") is an important south-north flowing highway of central Burma and the busiest road in the country. It connects Yangon to Meiktila where it joins the National Highway 4 going east and then NR1 continues north to Mandalay.

Bayinnaung Market

Bayinnaung Market (or Bayintnaung Market), located in northwestern Yangon, is the largest agricultural commodities trading market in Myanmar. Established in 1990, the market complex consists of two-story shop houses with floor areas of 1200 and 2,400 square feet . It is the only legally permitted wholesale center of beans and pulses in the country, which exported 1.34 million tonnes of beans and pulses in 2007 for a total value of US$750 million.
