The station was opened on 17 October 1881 as Meraker, and received the current name in 1 June 1919. The station has been unmanned since 2 January 1987. It is served twice a day in each direction by Mittnabotåget operated by the Norwegian State Railways.

Funnsjøen
Funnsjøen is a lake in the municipality of Meråker in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The 8-square-kilometre lake flows into the Funna river, a part of the Stjørdalselva river system. The lake has a hydropower dam at the southern end of the lake. The lake is located about 6.5 kilometres north of the municipal center of Midtbygda. The lake Feren lies north of the lake and the lake Fjergen lies southeast of the lake.
