The church is part of the Dolstad parish in the Indre Helgeland deanery in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The red, octagonal building was constructed in 1735 by the architect Nils Pedersen Bech. The church was consecrated by 7 August 1735 by the local dean Anders Dass, the son of poet and priest Petter Dass.
