Battle of Mirbat
The Battle of Mirbat took place on 19 July 1972 during the Dhofar Rebellion in Oman, which was supported by Communist guerrillas from South Yemen. Britain assisted the Omani government by sending elements of its Special Air Service both to train soldiers and compete against the Popular Front for the Liberation of Oman (PFLOAG) guerrillas for the "hearts and minds" of the Omani people.

Khor Rori
Khor Rorī (Arabic خور روري) is an Early South Arabian archaeological site near Salalah in the Dhofar region of modern Oman. The small fortified town was founded as an outpost for the kingdom of Ḥaḑramawt in modern Yemen around the turn of our era, but the site shows signs of Ḥaḑramite settlement back to the third century CE. The settlement was probably abandoned in the seventh century. One of the Queen of Sheba's palaces was located here.
