Caniço (Santa Cruz)

Caniço is a parish in the municipality of Santa Cruz in the Madeira Islands. It was elevated to city status in 2005. The population in 2001 is 11,586, its density is 965.5/km² and the area is 23 km². Caniço is connected with the urban sprawl of Funchal and like Calheta, Caniço is larger than the seat of the municipality. The city of Funchal is bordered to its west. It is located 6 km E of Funchal. Caniço is surrounded with two streams, a shorter one in the west and a long stream to the east.

Camacha

For the settlement in the northeastern portion of Porto Santo Island, see Camacha (Porto Santo). Camacha is a parish in the district of Santa Cruz in the Madeira Islands. It is about 6.5 km northeast of Funchal, 12 km south of Porto da Cruz and 7.5 km southwest of Santo António da Serra. The population in 2001 was 7,991, its density 408.1/km² and the area is 19.58 km². The parish of Funchal is bordered to the west and Machico to the north. Camacha has a stream located less than 1 km NE.

Funchal Bay

Funchal Bay is a large bay opposite the main city of Funchal on the island of Madeira, located in the North Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Morocco in north Africa. Funchal has its harbour within the bay. Reid's Palace Hotel is located on the headland at the western end of the bay.

Estádio da Madeira

Estádio da Madeira, formerly named Estadio Eng. Rui Alves and informally known as Estádio da Choupana is a football stadium in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for the home matches of C.D. Nacional, one of two Liga Sagres teams located in Funchal (The other being fierce rivals C.S. Marítimo). The stadium is currently able to hold 5,132 people and was built as a one-stand 2,500 seat stadium in 2000, when Nacional moved in.

João Gomes Bridge

João Gomes Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte João Gomes) is a bridge in Funchal, the capital city of the Portuguese island of Madeira. It was completed in 1994 and was designed by engineer António José Luís dos Reis. It is 274.5 metres long and stands high at 140 metres.
