Sosnovy Bor (Russian: Сосно́вый Бор means "Pine Forest") is a paratroops Military garrison in Buryatia, Russia. It is located about 20km east of Ulan Ude, Buryatia's capital. The compound was used for the meeting of President Dmitry Medvedev and North Korean leader Kim jong-il in August 2011.

Ulan-Ude Vostochny Airport

Ulan-Ude Vostochny Airport (also listed as Ulan Ude East) is an airport in the Buryat Republic, Russia located 9 km east of Ulan Ude. It services medium-size airliners. The airfield served as a bomber staging base. There is considerable tarmac space, with three 400x125m tarmacs and a few alert revetments. It is home to the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, currently producing the Mil Mi-17 & 171 helicopters and the Sukhoi Su-25UB & Su-39 attack aircraft.

Far Eastern Republic

The Far Eastern Republic, sometimes called the Chita Republic, was a nominally independent state that existed from April 1920 to November 1922 in the easternmost part of the Russian Far East. Although nominally independent, it was largely controlled by the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and its main purpose was to be a buffer state between the RSFSR and the territories occupied by Japan during the Russian Civil War. Its first president was Alexander Krasnoshchyokov.
