Angara River

The Angara River is a 1,779-kilometer river in Irkutsk Oblast and Krasnoyarsk Krai, south-east Siberia, Russia. It is the river that drains Lake Baikal, and is the headwater tributary of the Yenisei River. Leaving Lake Baikal near the settlement of Listvyanka, the Angara flows north past the Irkutsk Oblast's cities of Irkutsk, Angarsk, Bratsk, and Ust-Ilimsk. It then turns west, enters the Krasnoyarsk Krai, and falls into the Yenisei near Strelka .

East Siberian Railway

The East Siberian Railway (Восточно-Сибирская железная дорога) is a railway in Russia (a branch of the Russian Railways and a part of the Trans-Siberian Railway), which runs across Irkutsk Oblast, Chita Oblast, Buryatia, and Yakutia. The railway administration is located in Irkutsk. The East Siberian Railway borders with the Krasnoyarsk Railway, Trans-Baikal Railway (railway station of Petrovsky Zavod), and Baikal Amur Mainline (railway station of Lena-Vostochnaya).

Vladivostok Air Flight 352

Vladivostok Air Flight 352 was a scheduled passenger flight from Yekaterinburg, Russia to Vladivostok via Irkutsk which, on 4 July 2001 lost control and crashed while approaching Irkutsk Airport. A total of 136 passengers and 9 flight crew members perished in the accident, making it the third deadliest aircraft crash over Russian territory to date. The Tupolev Tu-154M was on approach for Irkutsk, when the pilots lowered the landing gear, the co-pilot realized that the plane was banking.
