Omsk Arena

The Arena Omsk is a 10,318-seat multi-purpose arena in Omsk, Russia. It opened in 2007, replacing Sports-Concerts Complex Viktora Blinova as the home of Kontinental Hockey League ice hockey team, Avangard Omsk. The original owner of the arena was Roman Abramovich, however in 2012 he donated it to Avangard Omsk.

Assumption Cathedral, Omsk

The Dormition Cathedral in Omsk is one of the largest churches in Siberia. Its fanciful design of many shapes and colors utilizes a plethora of elements from the Russian and Byzantine medieval architectural vocabulary. The main square of Omsk takes its name from the cathedral. The first stone of a new church was laid by Tsesarevich Nicholas during his journey across Siberia in 1891. A revivalist design was commissioned from Ernest Würrich, a fashionable architect based in Saint Petersburg.

Om River

Om is a river in the south of Western Siberian plains in Russia. It is ~724 km long, flowing into the major Irtysh River. It rises in the Vasyugan Swamp at the border of Novosibirsk and Omsk oblasts. The name is probably from the word om 'quiet' in the language of the Baraba Tatars. The name has also been traced to the Sanskrit "Om" (ओम्) which is the "Primordial Sound". The city of Omsk is situated at the confluence of Om and Irtysh.
