Aeroflot Flight 3352

Aeroflot Flight 3352 was a Tupolev Tu-154 airline flight on a domestic route from Krasnodar to Novosibirsk, with an intermediate landing in Omsk, in the USSR. While landing at Omsk Airport on 11 October 1984, the aircraft crashed into maintenance vehicles on the runway, killing 174 people on board and 4 on the ground. While a chain of mistakes in airport operations contributed to the accident, its major cause was a ground controller falling asleep on duty.

Sports-Concerts Complex Viktora Blinova

Sports-Concerts Complex Viktora Blinova is an indoor sporting arena located in Omsk, Russia. The capacity of the arena is 5,500. It was the home arena of the Avangard Omsk ice hockey team since 1986 till 2007. As a home arena it was replaced by Omsk Arena in 2008. The arena was named after a famous hockey player from Omsk, Victor Blinov, who collapsed during practice and later died at the hospital.

Om River

Om is a river in the south of Western Siberian plains in Russia. It is ~724 km long, flowing into the major Irtysh River. It rises in the Vasyugan Swamp at the border of Novosibirsk and Omsk oblasts. The name is probably from the word om 'quiet' in the language of the Baraba Tatars. The name has also been traced to the Sanskrit "Om" (ओम्) which is the "Primordial Sound". The city of Omsk is situated at the confluence of Om and Irtysh.
