Totskoye

Totskoye is a rural locality and the administrative center of Totsky District of Orenburg Oblast, Russia. Population: 6,898; 7,201; 7,095. During World War II, it was the site of a prisoner-of-war camp for Polish prisoners. In 1941–1942, it was one of places for the formation of the Polish Armed Forces in the East by Władysław Anders. A monument for Polish soldiers is erected there. In 1954, the Totskoye range was the site of the Soviet nuclear tests.

Totskoye (air base)

Totskoye (also Totskoe) is an air base in Russia located four kilometres southeast of Totskoye. It is a standard military air base with small number of revetments in separate area. There were 56 stored helicopters and five operational helicopters according to Google Earth high-resolution imagery made in 2003. Google Earth images from 29-08-2012 however shows an abandoned airfield.

Totskoye nuclear test

Totskoye range is a military range established in September 1941 to the north of Totskoye village in Orenburg Oblast, Russia, under the jurisdiction of the South Urals Military District. Marshal Georgy Zhukov picked the range for the 1954 nuclear test, which was considered top secret until 1993.
