Brkini Hills
The Brkini Hills is a hilly region in southwestern Slovenia. They border on the north on the Reka River, on the southwest on the Materija Valley (Matarsko podolje), on the northwest on the Karst Plateau (Kras), and on the southeast on the Jelšane Valley (Jelšansko podolje). The Brkini region is divided among the municipalities of Hrpelje–Kozina, Pivka, Ilirska Bistrica, and Divača. The region is 25 kilometres long and 7 km wide, and covers an area of 180 square kilometres .

Škocjan Caves Regional Park
The Škocjan Caves Regional Park is located in the Škocjan Karst, a vast flat landscape that lies at an elevation between 420 and 450 m in the southeast part of the Karst area.
