Avče Pumped Storage Plant

Avče Pumped Storage Plant (Slovene: Črpalna Hidroelektrarna Avče or ČHE Avče for short) is a pumped storage power plant near the village of Avče in West Slovenia. The powerplant was built till June 2009 and was put to the commercial use in April 2010. The main building contractor was Primorje Ajdovščina. The powerplant has been the first of its kind in Slovenia.

Kolovrat Range

Kolovrat is an Alpine mountain range on the border between Slovenia and Italy, northwest of Tolmin and southwest of Kobarid. It is a geographical border between the Soča Valley in Slovenia and the Venetian Slovenia region of Italy. It extends about 7 km at an elevation between 800 and 1150 m. There are two roads on the range, one from the Italian side, accessible from Drenchia, and one from the Slovenian side, accessible from the villages of Livek and Volče.

Fifth Battle of the Isonzo

The Fifth Battle of the Isonzo was fought from March 9–15, 1916 between the armies of the Kingdom of Italy and those of Austria-Hungary. The Italians, under immense pressure from the French commanders, had decided to launch another offensive on the Soča (Isonzo) River.

Idrijca

The Idrijca is a river flowing through the Idrija Hills and Cerkno Hills. It is 60 kilometres long. It rises near Vojsko, flows towards northeast and after passing through Idrija turns to the northwest. After passing through Spodnja Idrija and Cerkno it joins the Soča in Most na Soči. The river basin has an area of 598 square kilometres . The major tributaries are the Belca, Zala, Cerknica, and Bača from the right and the Nikomlja, Kanošica, and Trebušica from the left.

Bača

The Bača is a river in northwestern Slovenia with a length of 22 kilometres . It runs from Bača pri Podbrdu to Bača pri Modreju, where it joins the Idrijca River as its last right tributary.
