The Gorizia Statistical Region (Slovene: Goriška statistična regija) is a statistical region in western Slovenia, along the border with Italy. It is named after the town of Gorizia (Sln. Gorica), now in Italy, the historical economic and cultural center of the area. It comprises the Goriška region and part of the Inner Carniola region. Banjšice Plateau
The Banjšice Plateau (Slovene: Banjška planota, also Banjšice or Banjščice, Italian: Altopiano della Bainsizza) is a karst plateau in western Slovenia, in the Goriška region. It is located northwest of the town of Nova Gorica, overlooking the Soča River. During World War I, the Italian and the Austro-Hungarian Army fought in the Eleventh Battle of the Isonzo on the plateau in August 1917.

Ravnica, Nova Gorica
Ravnica is a village in western Slovenia in the Municipality of Nova Gorica. It is located on the high plateau known as the Trnovo Forest, overlooking the villages of Grgar and Čepovan. The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saints Hermagoras and Fortunatus and belongs to the Diocese of Koper.

Idrijca
The Idrijca is a river flowing through the Idrija Hills and Cerkno Hills. It is 60 kilometres long. It rises near Vojsko, flows towards northeast and after passing through Idrija turns to the northwest. After passing through Spodnja Idrija and Cerkno it joins the Soča in Most na Soči. The river basin has an area of 598 square kilometres . The major tributaries are the Belca, Zala, Cerknica, and Bača from the right and the Nikomlja, Kanošica, and Trebušica from the left.
