Ravnica, Nova Gorica

Ravnica is a village in western Slovenia in the Municipality of Nova Gorica. It is located on the high plateau known as the Trnovo Forest, overlooking the villages of Grgar and Čepovan. Banjšice Plateau

The Banjšice Plateau (Slovene: Banjška planota, also Banjšice or Banjščice, Italian: Altopiano della Bainsizza) is a karst plateau in western Slovenia, in the Goriška region. It is located northwest of the town of Nova Gorica, overlooking the Soča River. During World War I, the Italian and the Austro-Hungarian Army fought in the Eleventh Battle of the Isonzo on the plateau in August 1917.

Slovenian Littoral

The Slovenian Littoral is a traditional region of Slovenia. Its name recalls the historical Habsburg crown land of the Austrian Littoral which the Slovenian Littoral was a part of. The region comprises two traditional provinces: Goriška and Slovenian Istria.

Solkan Bridge

The Solkan Bridge is a 220-metre arch bridge over the Soča River near Nova Gorica in western Slovenia. With an arch span of 85 metres, it is the second-longest stone bridge in the world and the longest stone bridge among train bridges. It was originally built in the time of the Secession, between 1900 and 1905, and officially opened in 1906.

Soča

The Soča or Isonzo is a 138 km (86 mi) long river that flows through western Slovenia and northeastern Italy . An Alpine river in character, its source lies in the Trenta Valley in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, at an elevation of 876 metres . The river runs past the towns of Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Kanal ob Soči, Nova Gorica (where it is crossed by the Solkan Bridge), and Gorizia, entering the Adriatic Sea close to the Italian town of Monfalcone.
