Portorož Airport

Portorož Airport is the smallest of three international airports in Slovenia. It is located near the village of Sečovlje, 6 km south of Portorož, and less than 300 m from the Croatian border. The airport was opened on 27 September 1962. In addition to Portorož, the airport serves a number of other tourist destinations in the region, including Piran, Izola, Koper in Slovenia, Trieste in Italy and Umag in Croatia.

Dragonja

The Dragonja is a 30-kilometre long river in the northern part of the Istrian peninsula. It is a meandering river with a very branched basin and a small quantity of water. It often dries up in summer. It features very diverse living environments and is home to a number of animal and plant species. The Dragonja has been a matter of a territorial dispute between Croatia and Slovenia, with its lowest portion de facto the border of the two countries.

Kempinski Palace Portorož

Kempinski Palace Portorož, until 2008 known as Palace Hotel, is a five-star deluxe hotel in Portorož, a settlement on the Adriatic coast in southwestern Slovenia. It is the only deluxe hotel in Slovenia.

Marina Izola

The Marina Izola lies in the Slovenian town of Izola. The marina has berths for about 620 boats with a length of up to 30 m and a depth of 4.5 m. In addition, there is also a holiday resort with a hotel and many different attractions such as tennis courts, swimming pool and casino. The marina is used as base for water sports events such as Austria Cup. In the sea area before Izola are regularly sailed regattas or other water sports events organised.

Haliaetum

Haliaetum was a Roman port on the northern Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. The port was first established around 178-177BC following fierce resistance by the Histri, the indigenous population. The site of the port is at Valižan on Simonov zaliv (Simon’s Bay) to the southwest of the modern town of Izola in Slovenia. Remains visible at extreme low tide include parts of its pier as well as various port buildings.
