Carinthia Statistical Region

The Carinthia Statistical Region (Slovene: Koroška statistična regija) is a statistical region in northern Slovenia along the border with Austria. It includes parts of the traditional regions of Slovenian Carinthia and Lower Styria. It has a total area of 1,041 square kilometres . The region has Slovenia's highest proportion of employment in industry due to the various manufacturing plants, mining, and quarrying developed in the region. Meža

The Meža (Slovenian) or Mieß (German) is a 43 km (27 mi. ) river in the Austrian state of Carinthia and Slovenia. It has its source on the Austrian side of the border near Mount Olševa, becomes subterranean a kilometre from its source, and reappears on the surface in Koprivna near Črna na Koroškem, Slovenia. It is the central river of the Mežica Valley. It flows through Črna na Koroškem, Mežica, Prevalje, and Ravne na Koroškem, and into the Drava River at Dravograd.

Mislinja (river)

The Mislinja is a river in the northern part of Slovenia. It is 36 kilometres long. It flows through Mislinja and Slovenj Gradec and empties into the Meža River near Dravograd, just before the Meža joins the Drava River.

The Battle of Poljana (Monday May 14 – Tuesday May 15, 1945) was a battle of World War II in Europe. It started at Poljana, near the village of Prevalje in Yugoslavia, and was the culmination of a series of engagements between the Yugoslav Partisans and a large retreating Axis column, numbering in excess of 30,000 men.
