Bantamsklip, Western Cape
Bantamsklip is a rocky stretch of coast approximately 7 km SE of Pearly Beach in the Overberg district of the Western Cape province of South Africa. The site is 23 km south east of the town of Gansbaai. 1:50 000 map series reference 3419DA Bantamsklip is situated on the Groot Hagelkraal farm.

Joanna (East Indiaman)
Joanna was the first East Indiaman lost on the South African coast. She was wrecked near the Cape Agulhas on 8 of June 1682 while in a convoy to India with four other ships. 10 passengers lost their lives, while the remaining 104 were able to make their way to Cape Town. A considerable amount of gold was on board. Some was recovered immediately after by the Dutch East India Company governor of the Cape, Simon van der Stel.
