Gangneung Indoor Ice Rink

Gangneung Indoor Ice Rink (강릉 실내 빙상경기장) is an indoor ice arena which will be used for the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Paralympics. It was opened in 1998. It is located in the coastal city of Gangneung. It will be the venue for curling and wheelchair curling. The seating capacity is 3,500. It is the only Olympic venue in Gangneung which existed prior to the election of PyeongChang as host city of the 2018 Winter Games.

Union Hockey Centre (유니온 아이스하키 경기장) is a future temporary indoor ice arena which will be built for the 2018 Winter Olympics. It is located in the coastal city of Gangneung. It will be the one of the two venues for ice hockey and will be the venue for the hockey finals. The seating capacity is 10,000. The cost of construction for the Olympics is 73 million USD . Construction should start in September 2013 and be completed in September 2016.

Gangneung Stadium

Gangneung Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gangneung, South Korea. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 30,000 people and was opened in 1980. It is home ground of Gangneung City FC, and Gangwon FC from 2009.

Gyeongpo Ice Hall

Gyeongpo Ice Hall (경포 아이스홀 경기장) is a future indoor ice arena which will be built for the 2018 Winter Olympics. It is located in the coastal city of Gangneung. It is named after the nearby Gyeongpo Lake. It will be the venue for two sports: figure skating and short track speed skating. The seating capacity is 12,000. The cost of construction for the Olympics is 85 million USD . Construction should start in September 2013 and be completed in September 2016.

Gangneung

Gangneung is a city in Gangwon-do, on the east coast of South Korea. It has a population of 229,869 (as of 2006). Gangneung is the economic centre of the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province. Gangneung has many tourist attractions, such as Jeongdongjin, a very popular area for watching the sun rise. There is a ROK airbase south of downtown Gangneung which formerly doubled as a civil airport.
