Yangyang International Airport

Yangyang International Airport is a small international airport in northeastern South Korea. It is located in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province and was built to serve the nearby areas of Sokcho, Gangneung and Pyeongchang. The airport replaced Gangneung and Sokcho airports. Since 2008, the airport has had no scheduled flights, although there are occasional charters to China, Japan, and Taiwan. China Eastern and China Southern formerly served this airport.

Yangyang Pumped Storage Power Station

The Yangyang Pumped Storage Power Station uses the water of the Namdae-Chun River to operate a 1,000 MW pumped storage hydroelectric power scheme, about 10 km west of Yangyang in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The lower reservoir is created by the Yangyang Dam on the Namdae and the upper reservoir by the Inje Dam is located 937 m above the power plant. Construction on the power plant began in 1996 and it was completed and dedicated on September 13, 2006.

Yangyang County

Yangyang County (Yangyang-gun) is a county in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The county is located in the northeast of the country in Gangwon-do. Its population is about 31,000 (2004). The Yangyang area is well known for its pine mushrooms (song-i), its fish—particularly salmon—and its sunrises. In 2002, Yangyang opened its own airport, serving Busan and two cities in China. The airport also served Gangneung to the south and Sokcho to the north.

Naksansa

Naksansa or Naksan Temple is a Korean Buddhist temple complex in the Jogye order of Korean Buddhism that stands on the slopes of Naksan Mountain (also called "Obongsan Mountain"). It is located about midway between Sokcho and Yangyang, Gawngwon Province, eastern region of South Korea. Naksansa is one of the few temples in Korea to overlook the Sea of Japan (East Sea).

Sokcho Airport

Sokcho Airport is an airport in Sokcho, a city in the Gangwon province of South Korea. The airport has a single 1,560 meter runway (05/23). It used to serve people who went to Seoraksan for hiking. The airport was closed prior to the opening of Yangyang International Airport.
