Uijeongbu

Uijeongbu is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The city is located north of Seoul with many U.S. and Korean military bases for the defense of the Korean capital. The U.S. Second Infantry Division has established its headquarters in the city with main troops deployed in Dongducheon City. Despite it being known for its military presence, the area has boomed into a satellite community of Seoul, with shops, cinemas, restaurants and bars, PC bangs and DVD Bangs.

Operation Courageous

Operation Courageous was a military operation performed by the United States Army during the Korean War designed to trap large numbers of Chinese and North Korean troops between the Han and Imjin Rivers north of Seoul, opposite the South Korean I Corps. The intent of Operation Courageous was for I Corps, which was composed of the U.S.

Ganeung Station

Ganeung Station is a metro station on the Seoul Subway Line 1, located in northern Uijeongbu, South Korea. This station was formerly known as Uijeongbu Bukbu Station and was also the northern terminus for Seoul Subway Line 1 until the line was extended to Soyosan.

Bukhansan

Bukhansan, or Bukhan Mountain, is a mountain on the northern peripheries of Seoul, South Korea. At 836.5 meters above sea level and bordering a considerable part of the city, Bukhansan is a major landmark visible from most districts of the metropolis. The name "Bukhansan" means "Mountain north of the Han," referring to its location approximately ten kilometers to the north of the Han River. During the Joseon era, the peaks marked the extreme northern point of Seoul.
