Battle of Taejon

The Battle of Taejon (14–21 July 1950) was an early battle between United States and North Korean forces during the Korean War. Forces of the United States Army, attempting to defend the headquarters of the 24th Infantry Division were overwhelmed by numerically superior forces of the Korean People's Army at the major city and transportation hub of Taejon.

Sejong City

Sejong, officially Sejong Special Self-Governing City and formerly known as Yeongi (연기, 燕岐) county is a planned city in South Korea. In early 2007, the South Korean government decided to create a special administrative district housing nine ministries and four national agencies currently located in Seoul out of parts of Chungcheongnam-do and a small section of Chungcheongbuk-do provinces, near Daejeon. The capital opened on 2 July 2012, with 36 government agencies slated to move there by 2015.

Daejeon World Cup Stadium

Daejeon World Cup Stadium, nicknamed "Purple Arena", is a football stadium in the South Korean city of Daejeon. It was used to host some matches of the 2002 World Cup (South Africa vs Spain, Poland vs USA and South Korea vs Italy) . After the World Cup it became the stadium of Daejeon Citizen with a capacity of 41,295 seats. It replaced Daejeon Sports Complex.

HLA (radio station)

HLA is a time signal radio station in Daejeon, South Korea, operated by the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science. Established on November 24, 1984, it transmits a 2 kW signal on 5 MHz (±0.01 Hz). Originally only transmitted for 7 hours per day, 5 days per week (M–F), it is continuous as of 2011, There are over 100 users of the signal in Korea.
