HVDC Haenam–Cheju

The HVDC Haenam–Cheju is a 101 kilometers long HVDC submarine cable connection between the South Korean Mainland and the island of Jeju in South Korea, which went into service in 1996. The connection consists of two monopolar 180kV-lines with a maximum transmission power of 300 megawatts.

Wando County

Wando County (Wando-gun) is a county in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. It takes its name from the island of Wando, which is the largest island within the county and serves as the county seat. Wando island is perhaps most famous for Cheonghaejin, the former headquarters of Jang Bogo, a 9th century Korean historical figure whose private fleet and army dominated the sea routes in the Yellow Sea. Wando's most famous native in modern times is champion golfer K.J. Choi.

Mihwangsa

Mihwangsa is a Buddhist temple on Dalmasan (Dharma Mountain), nicknamed ‘Geumgangsan (Diamond Mountain) of the Korean peninsula, Haenam County, South Jeolla Province, South Korea. Mihwangsa, considered to be the southern-most temple on the mainland, was established in 749 as a branch temple of Daeheungsa, the head temple of the 22nd district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.

Sinjido

Sinjido is an island located off the cost of Jeollanam-do, South Korea. It covers an area of 30.99㎢ and features several peaks: Sang-san (324 m), Nohak-bong (225 m), Beom-san (151 m), and Giseon-bong (141 m).
