Plain of Vic

The Plain of Vic (Catalan Plana de Vic) is a 30 km long depression located at the eastern end of the Catalan Central Depression in the Osona comarca. It is named after the town of Vic, an important and ancient urban center in this natural region that lies in the midst of the plain. Other significant towns in the plain are Manlleu and Tona. This natural depression carved by river Ter and its tributaries is longer than it is wide and stretches in a N / S direction.

1991 Vic bombing

The 1991 Vic bombing was an attack carried out by the Basque separatist group ETA which occurred on 29 May 1991 when a car bomb carrying more than 200 kg of explosive went off outside a Civil Guard barracks in the Catalonian city of Vic, Spain. The bombing killed 9 people, including five children, and injured 44 people. Following the selection of Barcelona as the host of the 1992 Olympic Games, ETA launched a series of attacks in Catalonia to capture worldwide attention.
