Ilavalai

Ilavalai is a small coastal village located in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. It is 16 km from the Northern Capital towards north of the Jaffna Peninsula and 8 km from the port town of Kankesanthurai. It contains many Hindu temples and Christian churches. One of the oldest is St. Anne's church, which is situated in the center of the village (Ilavalai Junction). Chankanai

Chankanai or Changanai is a town located 12 km north-west of the city of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Popular market known as Chankanai Chanthai (in Tamil Chankanai Market) is located in there. Sandilipay

Sandilipay is a town located 10 km from the City of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The original name of Sandilipay is Kalvalai. At this location on July 24, 1983 number of ethnic Tamil civilians were shot and killed by Sri lankan Army. It is the Home of : 1. Seerani naaga poosani Ambaal Temple 2. Keerimalai

Keerimalai is a town in Jaffna District, Sri Lanka. Naguleswaram temple is located in this suburb also a mineral water spring called Keerimalai Springs reputed for its curative properties. In Tamil Keerimalai means Mongoose-Hill, see Naguleswaram temple.

Batticotta Seminary

The Batticotta Seminary was an educational institute founded by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM)'s American Ceylon Mission at Vaddukodai, in the Jaffna Peninsula north Sri Lanka in 1823. It was closed in 1855. The reason for such a decision being that it was not successful in the mission of its founding namely, conversion of Hindus to Christianity. Sir Emerson Tennent judged the Batticotta Seminary equal in rank with many European universities.
