Sudan
Sudan, officially the Republic of the Sudan and sometimes called North Sudan, is an Arab state in North Africa bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the northwest. Internally, the Nile divides the country into eastern and western halves.

Khartoum
Khartoum is the capital and second largest city of the Republic of Sudan and of Khartoum State. It is located at the confluence of the White Nile flowing north from Lake Victoria and the Blue Nile flowing west from Ethiopia. The location where the two Niles meet is known as the "al-Mogran", meaning the Confluence. The main Nile continues to flow north towards Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.

Acropole Hotel
The Acropole is a hotel. It was founded in 1952 and is run by the Greek Pagoulatos family - brothers Thanasis, George, and Mike. The Acropole is the oldest hotel in Khartoum, founded by the brothers' father in 1952. An added attraction is the OHM electronics shop next door, which is owned by the brother of Sheikh Musa Hilal, the tribal leader of Darfur's notorious Janjaweed. Several journalists and members of human rights organizations have managed to interview Hilal in that shop.
