Jämtland

Jämtland or Jamtland is a historical province or landskap in the center of Sweden in northern Europe. It borders to Härjedalen and Medelpad in the south, Ångermanland in the east, Lapland in the north and Trøndelag and Norway in the west. Jämtland covers an area of 34,009 square kilometres, 8.3% of Sweden's total area and is the second largest province in Sweden. It has a population of 112,717, the majority of whom live in Storsjöbygden, the area surrounding lake Storsjön.

Isön

Isön is a small island in lake Storsjön, Jämtland, Sweden. The island is very sparsely populated and is a part of Andersön's nature reserve. In winter an ice road connects Isön to the nearby larger island of Norderön. The route is also serviced by a ferry year round. On the other side (south east) the island is connected with a short bridge to another small island, Skansholmen, which connects further to the mainland.

Norrlands artilleriregemente

Norrlands artilleriregemente (Norrland Artillery Regiment), designation A 4, was a Swedish Army artillery regiment that traced its origins back to the 19th century. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from the provinces of Norrland. The regiment was disbanded in 1997.

Frösön

Frösön is the largest island in the lake Storsjön, located west of the city Östersund in Jämtland. During most of recorded history the island was the regional centre of Jämtland. Frösön is the location of "Frösöstenen", the northernmost raised runestone in the world, dating from 1030-1050 AD. Frösön was a separate köping until 1974 but was merged with Östersund at that time. The island is named after Freyr, the Norse God of fecundity and love.
