Filipstad Municipality

Filipstad Municipality (Filipstads kommun) is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Filipstad. The present municipality was created in 1971 when the City of Filipstad was merged with the rural municipalities of Kroppa, Rämmen and Värmlandsberg.

Storfors Municipality

Storfors Municipality (Storfors kommun) is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Storfors, which has approximately 2,500 inhabitants. The first local government unit named Storfors was created in 1950 when a market town by that name was detached from Kroppa. (The rest of Kroppa is since 1971 in Filipstad Municipality. ) In 1967 Ullvättern was amalgamated with Storfors, making up the present municipal territory.

Långban

Långban is a mining area in Värmland in Sweden. It belongs to Filipstad Municipality, with the nearest city being Filipstad, 21 km south. It was systematically mined through 1711-1972, but has traces from the 15th century. It is the birthplace of Swedish-American inventor John Ericsson It has been described as one of the most mineral-rich places in the world. Most mining was done for iron ore and manganese ore, but in total, 300 minerals have been found. After 1950, only dolomite was extracted.

Lundsbergs skola

Lundsbergs Skola is a Swedish boarding school located north of Kristinehamn in Värmland, Sweden. Lundsberg was founded in 1896 with inspirations from classical English boarding schools, and has around 200 students today. The school is run by an institution and is well known for its conservative atmosphere.
