La Fouly

La Fouly is a village in the Val Ferret in the Swiss canton of Valais. The village, at an altitude of 1,600 metres, is part of the municipality of Orsières (900 m). It sits at the foot of Mont Dolent (3,823 m) and the Tour Noir (3,836m) in the Mont Blanc massif. La Fouly is a starting point for many hikes into the surrounding mountains and is also a small ski resort. It is also often used as a stopping place for the Tour du Mont Blanc.

Val Ferret

Val Ferret is the name of the two valleys departing from the Col Ferret on the border between Italy and Switzerland, on the southern side the Mont Blanc Massif. To the northeast, the Swiss valley, which drains into the Rhône basin; to the southwest, the Italian valley, which drains into the Po basin. The two valleys are connected by a mountain footpath through Col Ferret. Access to Col Ferret is forbidden for private motor vehicles, on both sides.

Col Ferret

The Col Ferret (Petit Col Ferret) (el. 2490 m. ) is an Alpine pass between the canton of Valais and the Aosta Valley. This pass separates the Mont Blanc Massif from the Pennine Alps.

Cabane de l'A Neuve

The Cabane de l'A Neuve (or L'A Neuve hut) is a mountain hut in the Swiss Alps at 2,735 metres above sea level open for visitors. It can be reached from the Val Ferret. The hut lies below the Grand Darray (3,514 m) on the south side in the Mont Blanc Massif. Other summits close to the hut are the Tour Noir (3,835 m), the Grande Lui (3,509 m) and the Mont Dolent (3,823 m). Inauguration was 4 September 1927.
