Clarens, Switzerland
Clarens is a small village in the municipality of Montreux, in the canton of Vaud, in Switzerland. Whilst in Clarens, the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky wrote his ballets The Rite of Spring and Pulcinella and in March 1878, Tchaikovsky wrote his Violin Concerto. Paul Kruger, hero of South African independence from Britain, died here. For this reason, a village in South Africa was given the same name. The anarchist and geographer Élisée Reclus resided in Clarens.

Montreux–Oberland Bernois railway
The Montreux–Oberland Bernois railway (French: Chemin de fer Montreux–Oberland Bernois, German: Montreux–Berner Oberland-Bahn, abbreviated MOB), is a railway operating in southwest Switzerland, one of the oldest electric railways in the country; its main line, 62.4 km in length, built to 1 gauge, connects Montreux, Gstaad, and Zweisimmen, where passengers can transfer to the BLS AG owned, and standard gauge, Zweisimmen to Spiez line. There is also a 12.9 km branch-line from Zweisimmen to Lenk.

Hôtel Splendid
The Hotel Splendid Montreux, in front of Lake Geneva (Lac Leman). It was built at the end of the 19th century and its opening was in 1904. It was in 1934 that the establishment was re bought by Mr. Vital Hausmann. Since then, it has stayed within the family.

Les Avants–Sonloup railway
The Les Avants–Sonloup railway (French: Chemin de fer Les Avants–Sonloup) is a metre gauge funicular which runs from the railway station of the Chemin de fer Montreux-Oberland Bernois at Les Avants, between Montreux and Montbovon, and an upper terminus at Sonloup. The funicular, which was opened on 14 December 1912, runs at a right angle to the MOB line for a distance of 532 m and in doing so climbs at a 54% gradient to a height of 184 m above Les Avants.
