Puli, Nantou
Puli is an urban township in Nantou County, Taiwan. It is the geographic center of Taiwan. In the 19th century the city was known as Posia (埔社) or Polisia (埔裏社). Paper Dome is a temporary church building constructed using paper tubes as structural elements. It was designed on a pro-bono basis by Shigeru Ban, internationally known Japanese architect who is renowned for his paper tube structures and buildings. This temporary structure was built on September 17, 1995 to serve as a temporary church for Takatori Catholic Church after the Great Hanshin Earthquake.

2013 Nantou earthquake
The 2013 Nantou earthquake was a magnitude 6.0 Mw earthquake which struck central Taiwan on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:03 a.m. local time. The epicenter was located in mountainous terrain in Ren'ai Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, not far from Sun Moon Lake. News reports indicate that a 72-year-old woman was killed by being crushed by a collapsing wall and 86 people were injured as a result of the earthquake. Most of the injuries were in Taichung.
