Laiyi, Pingtung

Laiyi Township (來義鄉) lies in Pingtung County in southern Taiwan at the foot of Dawu Mountain (大武山). Laiyi is the native home of the Paiwan Tribe whose numbers are about 60,000 mainly in southern Taiwan. Many ancient customs and religious rites are still practiced in Laiyi, which has been regarded as the traditional religious center for the Paiwan Tribe. Laiyi is scenic with many streams spanned by suspension bridges, waterfalls and cliffs and aboriginal totem sculptures.

Fangliao, Pingtung

Fangliao is a rural township in Pingtung County, Taiwan Province of the Republic of China. It was the site where Japanese forces landed and completed the encirclement of Tainan during Japanese invasion of Taiwan. It is also the location for the filming of the second season of the American show Wipeout. Area: 57.73 km² Population: 26,429 people (April 2011)
