Stanford-le-Hope railway station

Stanford-le-Hope railway station is a railway station located in the town of Stanford-le-Hope in the borough and unitary authority of Thurrock in the East of England. It was opened in September 1854, and was initially called Horndon, as part of the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway when the railway was extended from Tilbury to Low Street (closed), terminating at Stanford-le-Hope until the next section of railway was opened a year later. Passenger train services are provided by c2c.

Borough of Basildon

The Borough of Basildon is a local government district in south Essex in the East of England, centred around the town of Basildon. The district was formed under the Local Government Act 1972 on 1 April 1974 from the former area of Basildon Urban District and the part of Thurrock Urban District that was within the Basildon New Town. The population of the district as of 2010 is about 172,000.

Lower Horse

Lower Horse is an uninhabited island off the English coast, lying in the Thames Estuary between Canvey Island and Stanford-le-Hope, close to grid reference TQ760828. Consisting mainly of marshland it is part of the group of islands (five of which later re-clustered to form Canvey Island) that broke away from the English coastline in the medieval period. Administratively it is part of Thurrock unitary authority; the border with Essex running between it and Canvey Island.
