Belford Hospital

Belford Hospital, locally known as The Belford, is a rural general hospital in Fort William, Lochaber, Scotland. It is run by NHS Highland and Argyll. The Belford provides secondary care to a local population of around 20 000, which can swell up to 60 000 during the summer. Currently, there are Consultant-led general medical and general surgical services. There is also a midwife-led Maternity Unit.

Siege of Fort William

The siege of Fort William, Scotland took place between 20 March and 3 April 1746. Prior to the siege the Jacobites had forced the surrender of Fort Augustus after a siege of just two days, from where they proceeded to Fort William with cannons they had taken from Fort Augustus. They arrived with siege cannon on 20 March and both Cameron of Lochiel and MacDonald of Keppoch wrote to their Jacobite leader, Charles Edward Stuart to tell him that they had declared war on the Clan Campbell.

Fort William Junction

Fort William Junction is a railway junction on the West Highland Line in Scotland, located to the east of Fort William railway station. It is where the railway to Mallaig connects with the Glasgow to Fort William railway. A crossing loop exists on the Mallaig line immediately beyond the junction but there has never been a facility for crossing trains on the main West Highland Line in the vicinity of the junction.

Claggan Park

Claggan Park is a football ground in Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland, which is the home ground of Highland Football League side Fort William F.C.. It is located on Achintee Road on the outskirts of the town and has a capacity of 4,000 with 400 seated. The ground is often considered the most picturesque in Great Britain due to its proximity to the foothills of Ben Nevis, the highest point in the United Kingdom.
