Taylor High School (New Stevenston)

Taylor High School is a six-year Roman Catholic comprehensive secondary school in New Stevenston, Motherwell, Scotland. It is named after Monsignor Thomas Nimmo Taylor who was Parish Priest at St. Francis Xavier Church, Carfin for almost 50 years and who was responsible for the development of the Carfin Lourdes Grotto in 1922.

Carfin Grotto

Carfin Lourdes Grotto, a Roman Catholic shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, was created in the early twentieth century. The "Carfin Grotto", as the shrine is locally referred to, was the brainchild of Father, later Canon, Thomas N. Taylor (died 1963), parish priest of St. Francis Xavier's Parish in the small, mining village of Carfin, which lies two miles east of Motherwell, in the West of Scotland.

Mossend

Mossend is a town on the A775, in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, to the east of its sister town Bellshill, and to the west of the large town of Motherwell. The town is the site of a major railway freight terminal. The yard is primarily used by DB Schenker Rail (UK) formerly EWS. Mossend formed around the steel industry, with Clydesdale Steel Works once dominating the east end of the town.

Calderbank

Calderbank is a village outside the town of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The village lies 13 miles east of Glasgow city centre and around 34 miles west of Edinburgh. Other major towns include: Airdrie 2.5 miles, Coatbridge: 4 miles, Bellshill: 4 miles and Motherwell: 5 miles.

Motherwell TMD

Motherwell TMD is a closed locomotive Traction Maintenance Depot situated in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The depot code is ML. The depot was operated by EWS following the privatisation of British Rail and was used for the maintenance of their fleet of Diesel locomotives and wagons as well as the fleet of electric postal trains. This depot closed in 2007, with its operations relocated to nearby Mossend, following the life expiry of Motherwell depot.
