Letterewe

Letterewe is a large estate of several tens of thousands of acres on the north-eastern shore of Loch Maree, South-East of Poolewe, in Wester Ross, Scotland. It is one of the wildest, most remote and least populated areas in the United Kingdom. The estate was once in the possession of the Clan Mackenzie. In 1978, it was purchased by the Dutch multi-millionaire, Paul Fentener van Vlissingen, and remains in the ownership of his family.

Loch Maree

Loch Maree is a loch in Wester Ross in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. At 20 km long and with a maximum width of 4 km, it is the fourth largest freshwater loch in Scotland; it is the largest north of Loch Ness. Its surface area is 28.6 km . Loch Maree contains five large wooded islands and over 25 smaller ones, many of which have their own lakelets.

Isle Maree

Isle Maree is an island in Loch Maree, Scotland. It has the remains of a chapel, graveyard, holy well, and holy tree on it, believed to be the 8th century hermitage of Saint Maol Rubha (d. 722), who founded the monastery of Applecross in 672. The island contains ancient stands of oak, holly and other trees not found on the other islands in the loch.

Eilean Sùbhainn

Eilean Sùbhainn is the largest of several small islands in Loch Maree, Wester Ross, Scotland. It is the second largest freshwater island in Scotland after Inchmurrin. Lying a mile (2 km) northeast of Talladale, the island is partially forested and uninhabited. It rises to 36m (118 feet) and extends to 118 ha (292 acres). The island is a nature reserve and includes several small lochans.

Garbh Eilean, Loch Maree

Garbh Eilean is a forested island in Loch Maree, Wester Ross, Scotland. Garbh Eilean lies between Eilean Sùbhainn and Eilean Ruairidh Mòr. The islands are among the least disturbed in Britain. They are managed as the Loch Maree National Nature Reserve by agreements between Scottish Natural Heritage and their owners.
