Clashnessie

Clashnessie (Scottish Gaelic: Clais an Easaidh) is a small crofting community on the North-West coast of Scotland; specifically in the Assynt area of Sutherland. The township (the old Scottish term for a crofting village) is scattered around the sandy beach of Clashnessie Bay and derives its name from the Gaelic clais an easaidh, meaning glen (clais) of the (an) waterfall (easaidh), referring to the waterfall at the head of the shallow glen in which most of the houses stand.

Eddrachillis Bay

Eddrachillis Bay is a bay on the north-west coast of Sutherland in Scotland in the United Kingdom. It lies north of Assynt and is at the mouth of the Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin, also known as the Loch Cairnbawn. It is neighboured by Eddrachillis, of which namesakes are shared.

Old Man of Stoer

The Old Man of Stoer is a 60 metres high sea stack of Torridonian sandstone in Sutherland, Highland, Scotland, close to the Marilyn Sidhean Mor, the villages of Culkein and Stoer and the nearby Point of Stoer. It is a popular climbing route. Northern Fulmars (Fulmarus glacialis) inhabit the stack and nearby sea cliffs.

Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin

Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin, or Loch Cairnbawn, is a sea inlet off Eddrachillis Bay on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands north of Ullapool. It was the site of the World War Two midget submarine training base, Port HHZ.

Quinag

The mountain Quinag (808 m) in Sutherland, in the Scottish Highlands, is in fact a mountain range with an undulating series of peaks along its Y-shaped crest. The name Quinag is an anglicisation of the Gaelic name Cuinneag, a milking pail, reflecting its distinctive shape. Geologically, Quinag is made of Torridonian sandstone, resting on a substrate of Lewisian gneiss.
