Llanelli Rural

Llanelli Rural is a community in Carmarthenshire, Wales. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 21,043. Despite its name it covers large parts of the Llanelli urban area, including Bynea, Llwynhendy, Cefncaeau, Pemberton, Bryn, Penceiliogi, Dafen, Felinfoel, Swiss Valley, along with the villages of Pont-Henri, Carway, Pwll, and Five Roads, as well as a number of hamlets. The community entirely surrounds Llanelli, except at sea.

District of Llanelli

The Borough of Llanelli was one of thirty-seven local government districts in Wales from 1974 to 1996. It was the smallest of six districts in the newly-created county of Dyfed, and was formed under the Local Government Act 1972 by a merger of the municipal boroughs of Llanelli and Kidwelly, Burry Port urban district and Llanelli Rural District all in the former administrative county of Carmarthenshire.

Furnace, Carmarthenshire

Furnace is a village and an area of the town of Llanelli in the county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Furnace is named after the furnace built by Alexander Raby before the village was actually established. The main furnace still remains and is open to the public as a local heritage site. It is under the authority of Carmarthenshire County Council and Llanelli Rural Council.

Sandy, Carmarthenshire

Sandy is an area in the county of Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales, on the western border of Llanelli town, about 5 miles east of Burry Port. The area is home to Sandy Water Park, a large project which has seen acres of disused industrial land converted to parkland and a lake. It now forms a part of the more recent Millennium Coastal Park. Sandy is adjacent to Stradey, which once contained the famous Stradey Park stadium, former home to Llanelli RFC and the Llanelli Scarlets.

Stebonheath Park

Stebonheath Park is a multi-use stadium in Llanelli, West Wales with a capacity of 3,700. It is primarily used as a football ground and is the home of Llanelli Football Club. It is also used for athletics and Llanelli Amateur Athletic Club (Llanelli AAC) are based at the stadium. It is owned by Llanelli Town Council.
