Caldicot Castle

Caldicot Castle is an extensive stone medieval castle in the town of Caldicot, Monmouthshire, in southeast Wales. The castle is a Grade I listed building as at 10 June 1953. It was at in the possession of Thomas of Woodstock, a son of King Edward III of England, until his death, when it reverted to the Crown.

Severn Tunnel rail accident

The Severn Tunnel rail accident occurred in the tunnel on 7 December 1991. The 08:30 London Paddington to Cardiff Central HST was stopped at a signal guarding the entrance to the Severn Tunnel. On telephoning the signalman, the driver was advised of a signal failure and given permission to proceed at caution. Three miles into the tunnel, the train was struck from behind by a Class 155 Super-Sprinter travelling from Portsmouth to Cardiff.

Second Severn Crossing

The Second Severn Crossing (Welsh: Ail Groesfan Hafren) is the M4 motorway bridge over the River Severn between England and Wales, inaugurated on 5 June 1996 by HRH The Prince of Wales to augment the traffic capacity of the original Severn Bridge built in 1966. The bridge marks the lower limit of the River Severn and the start of the Severn Estuary.

Caldicot Comprehensive School

Caldicot School is a coeducational and non-selective secondary school in the town of Caldicot, Monmouthshire in South Wales. Mrs. Gwyer-Roberts is headmistress and has been so since 2003. The school motto is 'Committed to Achievement' as seen at the bottom of the school crest. The crest is 'CCS' (an abbreviation of Caldicot Comprehensive School), made to look like a swan.

Severn Tunnel

The Severn Tunnel is a railway tunnel in the United Kingdom, linking South Gloucestershire in the west of England to Monmouthshire in south Wales under the estuary of the River Severn. The tunnel was built by the Great Western Railway (GWR) between 1873 and 1886. It is 4 miles 624 yd (7,008 m) long, although only 2¼ miles (3.62 km) of the tunnel are under the river.
